Mieko Mintz hails from the sunny southern Japanese island of Kyushu and pursued her fashion education in Tokyo. With twelve years of experience as a fashion designer in Tokyo, she embarked on a journey to the United States to learn English, and serendipity has anchored her there ever since.

Following several years of working from her home, Mieko Mintz inaugurated her inaugural store on Grove Street in the charming West Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, New York City, back in August 1999. Five years later, she relocated to a splendid storefront on Thompson Street in Soho.

In 2009, Mieko ventured into wholesale, and by 2014, the operation had outgrown its space, prompting a move to a larger location on Vandam Street, also nestled in the artistic enclave of Soho. This new space served as the global hub for the wholesale distribution of MM clothing.
